Why We Love Mike & Eric

On June 17th, 2004, The Palin & Idle 24-Hour Network celebrates its second birthday.  To honor this…er… sort of special occasion, we only thought it was fitting to add a tribute page.  If you’d like to tell the world why you love Mike/Eric/both, please either send them to me or post them at the message board here and I’ll add them to this page.

Jess:  I liked Michael since I saw him in A Fish Called Wanda back in the late 80s, but back then I was just a very casual fan.  As for Eric, I liked him since I saw him in a few SNL reruns and The Rutles All You Need Is Cash, around the mid 90s.  A short time later I saw Monty Python & the Holy Grail in a medieval history course, fell completely for Michael (thought he was sooo cute as Galahad, still do obviously) and finally caught up with the Flying Circus reruns.  Michael is my absolute favorite, but Eric is a very close second (so close that I love them nearly equal).  I think they’re cute, talented and very funny.

KayKay:  Both men are charming and British, so that's a double plus for me. Last year I was just an average fan, until December. I found Michael Palin's fan mail address and sent a letter to him. The next month I received what I was hoping to, but not expecting to, a signed photograph. When I got the envelope, I was puzzled as to why I was getting something from the United Kingdom. When I opened it, my life changed.

Diane:  I fell in love with Monty Python and Eric Idle back in February of 2003..  I couldn't place my finger on it, but there was just something about these silly people that I adored.  My heart fell to Eric when I watched Life of Brian and he sang Bright Side on the cross.  I've been obsessed and utterly in love with him ever since.  I now own the largest, and only completely updated Eric-dedicated website on the web, www.eric-idle.com, in which I express my love for him further.  However, the happiest day of my life was on December 16th of 2003 when I got to meet and chat with Mr. Idle in person and he hugged me, and I'll tell you everyone, there's nothing better in this world than an Eric Idle hug.
