An Old Friend

This sweet, somewhat obsessive (to details, anyway) story is based on a fantasy of mine in which I am an old friend of Michael, whom I haven't seen in 5 years and am about to see again in 1974. It is broken up into two versions somewhere after Part 5 or 6 because originally I couldn't make up my mind what kind of an ending I wanted to have. If you'd like a mostly warm and wonderful ending, go to Version A. If you'd like a more soap- opera-type ending (but still ends on a warm note, lol), go to Version B.

disclaimer: I am not trying to make any money off of this, I do not know any of the Pythons personally (especially Michael Palin who this fanfic is mostly about). Just so you know, he is single in this story even though he's really been married since the mid 60s. You can say that it's half reality, half fantasy (or maybe mostly fantasy) since I've tried to put in some accurate details to make it seem more realistic. Also, my character has a different name which may make it seem like I hate my own name. That is not the case, it's just that I'm not exactly sure how popular my first name has ever been in the UK. This other name is not a name I wish I had, just one that I thought would make the story better. Also, I don't know much about the system at Oxford University, or most any other college in the UK, so I apologize if some of the details aren't very accurate.
